Dr. Reinhard Gaida
Ireland as a subject of the Combi-Course English/Geography
The students are in their Ninth and Tenth form.
They have chosen English/Geography as their subject instead of French, Latin, Social Sciences and Art. They get three lessons per week. They have to stay in the Course for two years. In our Combi-Courses we deal with geographical, historical and political problems of the English speaking world. This year, our main subject is the Anglo-Irish Conflict. The students form groups of two or three and write a report on one of the subjects listed below, using written and electronic information. The internet, WORD and EXCEL are at their disposal at every lesson. Work starts in September 1999. The written report must be ready in December 1999. In addition to this, they give a lecture about their subject in January 2000. The report and the lecture are the object of an intense Evaluation.
